Keep Greenwood Beautiful

Greenwood County Great American Clean up report
Mission of Keep Greenwood County Beautiful
To create and maintain a society that is intolerant of litter and a landscape that is free of this blight.
On January 29, 2008 the Greenwood County “Pitch In” Litter Prevention Task Force received official certification to become a Keep America Beautiful and Keep South Carolina Beautiful affiliate. Keep Greenwood County Beautiful (KGCB) (501(c)3) board members had their initial training and set goals for this organization. While still focusing on litter prevention, our organization has broadened its views through the following activities:
Litter Prevention
- Engage residents in the prevention of litter in their own yards, streets, and communities
- Provide an easy and easily accessible trash collection system to prevent litter thrown from vehicles.
Public Relations
- Public Awareness of Keep Greenwood County Beautiful thru PSA, Website, media, etc.
- Create a liaison committee to connect all KGCB committee and sub-committees informed on progress
Education
- KGCB propose d a plan for recycling/litter prevention education programs in District 50 Schools in conjunction with County recycling coordinator
- Promote and educate Greenwood Co. residents on the importance of recycling and litter prevention.
Beautification
- Consider becoming a “Tree City USA”
- Select 3 Greenwood County areas for beautification
- Select 1 “inner-city” park for beautification
We’re a long way from our goal of being a litter free community, obviously, but we’re on the right path - which is less littered because of our existence.
